HOW TO RECHARGE YOUR BRAIN'S "BATTERY"
(Improving the Thalamic Central Integrative State)

It is a common finding that some people tend to get sick more often than others. Another finding is that seemingly healthy people all of a sudden get sick, and sometimes even die suddenly.

Bad diet, poor attitude, genetics, germs (bacteria and viruses), stress, lack of exercise, and sleep are all pointed out as causes for the above things happening as they do. All the things mentioned in that list deal with risk factors that must be dealt with in order to lead a healthy life. Still, some people with just those factors get sick while others don't appear to do so.

Why?

The answer is resistance.

Different People Have Different Levels of Resistance.

The obvious next question is, "How can I develop a high level of resistance?"

To have (or develop) a high level of resistance, all the cells, tissues, and organs of your body must enjoy their maximum possible level of function from the cellular level on up to the levels of the tissues, organs, and glands.

To enjoy Good Function (meaning to have high resistance) you must:

1. Eat properly.

2. Drink adequate amounts of "clean water.

3. Think healthy, positive thoughts.

4. Do things to compensate for any genetically derived

problems which might exist.

5. Enjoy adequate Exercise, Rest, and Sleep.

6. Develop and practice good breathing of healthy air.

7. Have enough (vital, cellular, life) bio-energy to meet your

needs.

This section of the web-site deals with numbers 5, 6, and 7 of the list above. Especially with number 7, the creation and use of BIO-ENERGY in the human body.

The Source of Bio-Energy Creation in the Human Body

Recent research has shown that our bodies function primarily as energy systems which are electrical like in nature. The focus for a long time was biochemical in nature, so drugs and medicines were the "in" thing. Now, however, electro-medicine has the research spotlight. What has been discovered is that your nervous system's components function as an energy web, in which certain specialized areas of your body develop energy which is then stored and allocated for use by a specific area of your brain.

The energy is generated by specialized nerve cells which are called neuro-receptors. These receptors, which involve the sensation of light, sound, taste, smell, heat, touch, movement, etc., are located in the sense-organs, joints, ligaments, muscles, and skin of your body. Actually, motion and stretch receptors inside your body's joints and muscles provide most of the signals which are effective in the creation of nervous system energy.

The neuro-receptor cells convert the stimulation of movement into the creation of biological energy. This energy is then stored in a particular area of your brain, the Thalamus (actually there is a right and a left thalamus).

So, we can think of the thalamus as acting as your brain's "battery", and storing energy which it can then "broadcast" through your body's nerves for use in the control and integration of all functions and activities.

"Switching On" The Nervous System

The actual integration and direction of your body's activities is coordinated through the nerve pathways which are collectively named the nervous system, and the more your joint/muscle receptors are stimulated through physical movement, the better the nervous system works. This accounts for many of the health bringing effects of walking, running, and other such "exercises".

Actually, the thalamus is the "switchboard" for coordinating all of your "motor activity". Motor activity meaning the work and function done by the cells, tissues, and organs as well as movement. The ability your thalamic-brain-battery to create good motor activity (movment, digestion, breathing, etc.) depends upon its:

level of energy "storage"and its ability to broadcast a downstream flow of energy through the nervous systemboth of which are dependent upon the brain-battery receiving coherent and clear messages from your body's neuro-receptors.

In other words, the level and quality of sensations coming in from the rest of the body is what determines whether the Thalamus can do a good job and create healthy motor function.

"Static"

The fly in the ointment is that the signals from the neuro-receptors can become disturbed, at which point they act like "static" going into your brain. Disturbed/abnormal motion in the traumatized joints and muscles housing the neuro-receptors is the factor which leads to the garbled messages coming in from the neurotransmitters.

The "static" from abnormal signals coming in from the neuro-receptors leads to interference with your brain-battery's ability to store, regulate and distribute energy through nervous system impulses. That then leads to impaired function, which means lowered resistance and poor health.

Injuries such as strong or ongoing emotional traumas/stress, sprains and strains of joints, muscle tears, scars from cuts and surgery, postural distortions, and internal organ problems disrupt the neuro-receptor messages to the brain, and thus lead to a lower charge in your "brain-battery" (Thalamus). (Note: Technically, the thalamic readiness for action and level of ability to control motor activity is referred to as the Central Integrative State of the Thalamus, abbreviated hereafter as the CIS.)

Candace Pert Ph.D. and the Limbic Connection

Now for an interesting (and important) sidelight. Candace Pert, Ph.D., who is a world class brain neurophysiology experts, says that the dorsal nerve root ganglias (DNRGs) of the spinal nerves are actual extensions of the limbic system of the brain. These DNRGs are situated right where the vertebral body/facet joint junctions occur.

The limbic system is the "decision-making" combination of brain areas which decides which sensory inputs our being will act upon at a given moment. The same postural distortions which lead to garbled messaging to the brain-battery also create abnormal pressures and tensions on the DNRGs, leading to further impairment of sensory signaling.

So, the relationship of the bony spinal parts and their ligamentous attachments has a direct and immediate impact upon limbic function, and thus upon your neuro-immunological strength. That is, immune system strength and good "resistance" are both dependent upon the same good sensorial input as is general motor function.

Improving the CIS of the Thalamus

Brain-battery recharging is most efficiently done by the stimulation of areas of the highest joint proprioceptor concentration, the same areas that are effective in helping to restore normal postural balance.

The upper cervical spine (upper ne Color ck area), has the highest concentration of proprioceptors of any single area in your body. Stimulation here provides a very concentrated input into your brain and leads to measurable improvement of thalamic function.

In fact, you can measure the level of thalamic integration and its improvement yourself through "Physiological Blind Spot" analysis and muscle strength testing, the technical processes of doing which will be explained later.

The beauty of it all is that there are self-treatment processes which serve to create an improved CIS; that is, they very effectively recharge your brain-battery. And not only does this lead to your enjoying better health, but it is a powerful tool for regaining personal control of your path to becoming and staying healthy.

Tieing It All Together

In order for you to most effectively properly develop energy and then coordinate its use for motor activity, it is necessary to recharge the "brain-battery" (increase the CIS of the Thalamus). You can do this by stimulating neuro-receptors in such a way as to overcome the "brain-battery" draining effects brought about by prior traumas of all types. This can be further supported by:1). Movement and exercise processes which help to restore and maintain your postural balance, and2). by providing your body with the specific nutrients which are needed for the formation of nerve tissues and the biochemical neurotransmitters which control of nervous system activity.

Action Processes

Because neurological control and the development and healing of all body tissues depends upon having the proper chemical foundations for growth and repair; a specific dietary and nutritional plan will give you a leg up on improving your energy, neurological control, and resistance.
